Canadian Childrens Book Centre Our Choice 2009 Grandma Needlethorpeknits a sweater for her granddaughter Nellies role as a bumblebee in theupcoming spring concert. And the result is a huge success even though thesleeves have to be rolled up and the sweater hangs well past Nellies knees. Adelighted Nellie cant wait to show it off to her school chums but each timeshe wears the sweater Nellie gets into a scrape. And after several trips tothe washer and dryer the rapidly shrinking sweater finally fits her perfectly.But Nellie must wear the sweater one more time before the concert. And one moresweater mishap proves to be the last straw. The bumblebee sweater comes out ofthe dryer much too small for Nellie. Now its no good for anyone except thefamily dog. But Nellie doesnt mind shes going to wear a flower costume inthe concert. Too bad there wont be a bumblebee on stage after all . . . orwill there? «
